I’m also not apposed to the idea that people like doing things for themselves. I, me, mine.ĭon’t get me wrong, I love my iStuff! I’ve blogged about my iPhone, and my iPod Shuffle plays a huge part in my running.

On the simplest level, or perhaps a more deeper one, the ‘i’ stands for what it is says: I. And so came e-commerce, e-trade, eBay, e-cards, e-books, e-journals and so on.īut what is ‘i’? Does it stand for something? Internet? Impressive? Information? Internal? I’ve done the search, Googled my eyes out and there is no definitive answer to this puzzle everyone has their own idea, but nothing’s official. Why ‘i’? When email came out, it was pretty clear what the ‘e’ stood for (‘electronic’, for those of you to whom it’s not so clear). Now, I’m no authority on sociology or psychology, technology or innovation, and I certainly don’t claim to be the ‘ultimate’ opinion on these matters, but I was doing some thinking about the iRevolution. Go into Google, choose a topic or word, stick an ‘i’ in front of it, and you’re almost guaranteed to get immediate results. iPods, iPads, iMacs, iTunes, iBrowse, iMusic, iFood, iThis, iThat. I’m not sure if it was Apple that got the ball rolling, but the iRevolution is upon us. In fact, from what I’ve seen, almost every time a new Apple product comes out, rumours are already beginning to circulate about the next generation of the very same product. The sad thing is, even if I happen to acquire any of these products, in a year’s time, they’ll be ‘old’, ‘obsolete’ and the ‘new’ versions will be the new hot thing.

Maybe one day when I win the lottery, or trip over a large bag full of cash. Of course I want more! Maybe an iMac, or a MacBook Pro? How about the MacBook Air? Obviously my most coveted Apple product at the moment: an iPad 2. It’s like their idea reservoir is forever overflowing, and if they don’t turn their ideas into reality quick enough, it’ll flood internally and destroy everything.Ĭurrently, I own: 1. Not that I own so many of their products, but I do find myself staying up to date with the products, technologies and designs that are constantly spewing out.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve turned into a bit of an Apple nut.
